Olivia Powis has been playing the cello since the age of 7 and achieved Grade 8 Distrinction by the age of 16, studying under Nicholas Jones, (Royal Northern College of Music). She won a regional Young Musician of the Year, and won a place in the Midland Youth Orchestra, performing in Symphony Hall, Birmingham. Olivia taught music for a year in Namibia and continued to play the cello at the University of Manchester, regularly performing, including at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester. She continued to play with Camden Chamber Orchestra and Westminster Philharmonic Orchestra, performing in the Royal Albert Hall, and also in a quartet live with iGospel at the Royal Festival Hall. She also improvises and records with throughout the UK with contemporary singer/ songwriters including Vaughan King, Ian Parker at The Robin, Woverhampton and The Borderline, London and Guy Davies, London. She has recorded for bands including Achilla and for resident artists at the renowned The Premises, music studios in Hackney, London.
